What we do

Thinking of adopting and fostering?

General introduction

We aim to offer you the opportunity to think about the experience, knowledge, abilities and skills you have that will help you parent a child who has lived in other families, and may have been abused.

We will tell you about the children we are seeking family homes for; about their troubles in the past and how this has affected them. We will ask you to look hard at what you think you will be able to take in your stride, and why you think this. We will ask you to think equally hard about what will be a challenge for you and why.

It is very important for your future happiness that you are honest with yourself, and with us, about what will work for you, what you can make work with the right support and what will not work at all.

We will be there in the coming years to support and advise you but it is you who will be there, 24 hours a day and seven days a week. You therefore need to ensure that you come to understand and appreciate not only how your experiences to date can help you, but also how they may hinder you.

The decisions you make will be amongst the most important decisions you will ever make, and we see our job as helping you to make the decision that is right for you.
