Barnardo's Missing Service

The Barnardo's Missing Service works with young people of 16 years and under who are reported missing and those aged 18 and under who are looked after.
We cover the whole of the Kirklees metropolitan district. We work in partnership with West Yorkshire Police, the Kirklees Primary Care Trusts and Kirklees Children and Young People Service.
The service fits into Barnardo’s theme of protecting children from harm, because we aim to help children and young people to keep themselves safe.
We offer a confidential service to young people when they return home or to their care base. We are a service focused on young people.
Our aim is to explore risks and to look at strategies for keeping young people safe. Our service is short term, which could include:
- family work
- crisis intervention
- advocacy
- volunteer for a listening and support service.
We also offer support to young people in accessing services and resources they feel are appropriate for them.
