Frequently asked questions
1. How long does it take?
This will depend on the needs of the individual resident. Sometimes we can match you with a mentor immediately or, you may have to wait for an appropriate mentor to become available. Residents are kept informed of the situation on a regular basis.
We ask for at least six months commitment from our mentors.
2. Can I become a mentor?
If you are interested in becoming a mentor please contact the volunteer co-ordinators and they will send you an application form and role description depending on which strand you would like to become a mentor in. It is important to note that we require references.
3. How can I access the service and get support from a mentor?
Please contact the volunteer co-ordinators who will either meet with you to discuss the project or they will send you an application form.
Referrals for individuals can also be forwarded from other agencies who work with refugees, asylum seekers and BME groups.
All mentees must be resident in Manchester.
