Advocacy service for Michael, age 12

Natasha works at the Barnardo's London Independent Visitors Scheme.

The service recruits volunteers who act as mentors and friends to children in care, ensuring children like Michael always have someone they can talk to and confide in.

Kids like Michael can lash out at people because they’re struggling to deal with being separated from their families. Young people like that need support. We work with young people to teach them how to express their emotions and opinions in a way that has a positive impact on their lives, supporting them to ensure their voices are heard and their opinions are valued.
