Frequently asked questions

Q. How does a young person get support from Barnardo's Levenmouth Links?

A. A referral will usually be made by their guidance teacher or social worker, but we welcome referrals or enquiries from young people, their families and other agencies.

Q. What happens after a referral is made?

A. A project worker will arrange to visit the young person and their family to discuss the most appropriate support. In order to do this we will ask for information about the difficulties the young person is experiencing, background information and other relevant issues which may impact on the current situation. We will also seek permission to talk to other significant people, e.g. social worker, teacher.

Q. What if a young person does not want support?

A. Contact with Barnardo's Levenmouth Links is on a voluntary basis and the person making the referral should have checked out the young person’s or family's feelings before making a referral. It is alright to say no.

Q. How long will the support last?

A. It will last for as long as it is of benefit to the young person. Individual support is reviewed regularly to decide if support is still needed.
