What we do
The services currently provided by the Kirklees Khandaani Dhek Bhal project are:

Duty system
We operate a duty system every afternoon from 1.00pm until 4.30pm, which is available to members of the public and agencies who may require our services and assistance.
Assessments
We undertake complex assessments on children, young people and their families in partnership with statutory organisations. Our work informs decision making and care planning in respect of children and young people. This work is completed through Quality Protects funding.
Direct and therapeutic work

The project offers children and young people a safe therapeutic environment on a one-to-one basis, to explore and deal with any feelings, issues and experiences they may have. This allows them to understand and come to terms with any feelings, issues and experiences they have encountered and move on. We also deal with issues of loss and separation in similar non-threatening therapeutic culturally appropriate environment.
Counselling and support
Our aim in this area of work is to assist children, young people and adults to cope with any difficulties they may be experiencing, or to enable them to deal with issues that they have been left with following traumatic experiences.
Group work
The project provides facilities for a variety of group-work sessions. These may be for the young people or their families, addressing various issues such as behaviour, development, education and the general well being of a family. We have a baby massage group running at the project.
We aim to offer various courses such as English classes, IT, sewing, interior design and health and beauty. These are run in partnership with local colleges and other appropriate organisations. Crèche facilities are available for some of the groups run. Groups vary from term to term.
The project also provides inclusive pre-school and summer activities for children and young people. The pre-school provides integrated, play and learning opportunities for children from two and half up to four years. The pre-school is run in two sessions, morning and afternoon. Parents can choose either session, starting from 9.15am until 11.45am and 1.00pm until 3.30pm. In these sessions the children plan and choose which areas they wish to play in and each area is supervised by two qualified members of staff. There is also an outdoor play area.
We have a parent or carer and toddler group running every Wednesday afternoon called 'Tiddlywinks'.
