
Barnardo's Kirklees Khandaani Dhek Bhal
The Barnardo's Kirklees Khandaani Dhek Bhal project provides a comprehensive service to children, young people and their families living in Kirklees. The project is a partnership between Barnardo’s, Kirklees Social Services and North Kirklees Primary Care Trust.
The project deals with a variety of issues, these include:
- family issues
- immigration
- benefit advice
- parenting issues
- housing issues
- domestic violence issues
- mediation and relationship advice
- we provide volunteering opportunities for anyone over 16 years of age.
We also offer a pre-school service, play schemes for children, parent or carer and toddler group, various groups for children, young people, and adults, parenting support work and groups, and we facilitate various health and social events at the project. We also work in partnership with other agencies to provide adult education classes, youth activities and health visitor services. We are also offering an after-school service which runs from the project, Monday to Friday, 3.15pm to 6.00pm.
We have received funding from:
New Opportunites Fund (NOF) to provide:
- a healthy living centre in North Kirklees
- an after school service
Children's Fund Kirklees to provide services for five to 13 year olds. This includes:
- boys and girls groups
- residential trips
- parenting work
- after school clubs
- reading clubs
- homework clubs.
