We want the National FGM Centre to become the sector hub of expertise by improving policy and practice through the generation and sharing of high quality evidence on what works to prevent and tackle female genital mutilation and other harmful traditional practices.

We need a strong leader who can take the Centre forward strategically, expanding its remit and developing a strong national profile, promoting Social Work system change in response to harmful traditional practices whilst still ensuring that its operational activities are managed effectively. Run jointly with the LGA and working in partnership with other key stakeholders such as the DfE, the Head of the Centre will have the vision, drive, knowledge and experience to develop our model and extend its reach and delivery thereby achieving financial sustainability by 2020.

You will already be leading a high profile function with a strong track record of working with partnership agencies to deliver best practice services. You will have extensive awareness of current legislation, research and policies on FGM and have experience of representing a large organisation at national level. A background of working with BAME communities, in particular African and Middle Eastern communities, is essential.
