Part Time: Variable hours per week


Salary: £8.45 per hour

Barnardo's Disability Services is registered both as a Fostering Agency and as a Domiciliary Care Agency with the Care & Social Services Inspectorate for Wales. Disability Services works in partnership with Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan local authorities and each area provides a mixture of overnight and non-overnight care for children.

The purpose of the role will be to assist in inclusion, widen opportunities and enhance the children and young people's personal development. This will involve working with specific individual children and young people on a regular, flexible basis. You must have experience of direct work with children and young people and will be able to communicate with parents and young people confidently and effectively.

Your responsibilities will include;
- Supporting children and families in their own home
- Take responsibility for the safety and well-being of children and young people in your care
- To assist with any personal care needs that the child or young person may have in an appropriate and respectful manner
- To report and record promptly, as required, and in line with Barnardo's Policy and Procedure.
- To attend the child's review meetings.

It is essential that you have knowledge of activities which are appropriate to children and young people as well as an understanding of the needs of disabled children and young people. You must also have the ability to travel throughout the locality to meet the requirements of the post.
