Adult Learning Opportunities:

At the 0-19 Family Centres support for families does not stop at 19. We host a range of educational courses that anyone 19+ can access for free. These learning opportunities can improve employability and essential day to day skills. Whether you are a parent/carer who would like to revisit and achieve a qualification in English/Maths or a parent/career who wants to explore different career paths, the 0-19 years family centres can support you.

Educational opportunities available:

Functional Maths: revisits level 1 and 2 Maths in an engaging and personalised service. This is achieved by the educational mentors goal setting and structuring learning to what you want to improve.

Functional English: revisits level 1 and 2 English in an engaging and personalised service. This is achieved by the educational mentors goal setting and structuring learning to what you want to improve.

POA Learning: This organisation offers independent learning courses whereby participants are sent the relevant learning sources through the post. Great chance to start looking into new careers with courses available in business, health care, social care and other general skills based improvement courses.  

English for Speakers of Other Languages: This course is to help individuals of whom English is their second language. This is currently not running at the Family Centres so please contact Isle of Wight College International Department on 01983 535205.

Free POA learning Courses:

What is POA learning?

  • An organisation that provides free education courses.
  • To participate you must be over 19, and have lived in the EU for over 3 years.
  • Qualifications you can gain are level two.

What are the benefits of POA learning?

  • As these courses are free you can improve your employability without financial pressure.
  • A wide variety of courses to choose from in areas of health, business and general skills like leadership.
  • There are no entry level requirements.
