Governors

Governors have responsibility for determining, monitoring and keeping under review the broad policies, plans and procedures within which the school operates. They are not involved in the day-to-day management issues.

Governors are appointed or elected by different groups including parents, staff, sponsoring local education authorities and the local community.

If you would be interested in becoming a school Governor please contact Zoe Lattimer the Principal on 01189 785 767.

Governors Statement   January 2017

Governors continue to work with school management and leadership to ensure that High Close School meets the changing needs of legislation, local authorities, parents and pupils.

In 2016 High Close was once again rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for its residential and care provision.

Pupil participation in the School Council and the selection of new teaching staff is building a stronger school community.  Parent engagement with the learning process has been encouraged by more frequent feedback and parent-teacher events.

The school attracts students from a wide area, covering over 25 different Local Authorities.

The curriculum has been broadened to more closely meet the needs of individual students. There is increased provision aimed at preparing students for working life. Assessment, feedback and evaluation systems have been strengthened. This year there is particular focus on attendance, behaviour and interventions.

The new occupational Therapy building and sensory room this year supports our young people alongside a strong education and therapeutic focus.

We welcome these positive developments and look forward to continuing success at High Close.
