Field Social Work

Our field social work team are fully qualified social workers and are a very important part of the school. Crucially their role is to support everybody working directly with the child to support them.

They are hugely supportive to pupils at High Close and provide a service that is absolutely fundamental to the success of the work that the school does as a whole. They work closely with parents and families and are available 52 weeks a year for help and support. The field social workers are part of the safeguarding team and each field social worker is linked with one of the units.

When a child comes to the school they will arrange a visit to meet parents/carers to gain information that can help the school support the child.

The services they offer include:

  • Speaking regularly with parents and carers
  • Supporting parents and carers with information. E.g:
    • Housing applications
    • Behaviour management
    • Benefits applications/information-For example, Disability Living Allowance
  • Carrying out home visits
  • Making recommendations/referrals to other agencies for support. E.g:
