Day pupil facilities

Students playing pool at Barnardo's High Close School

Day care may be suitable for young people who live closer to the school or who’d benefit from a different kind of balance between school and home life.

Much like our boarders, day pupils have their own unit, called Redwood, which provides a place for them to go when not in lessons. It is fully equipped with:

  • a sizeable lounge
  • a well-equipped games room
  • a computer room (offering Internet access)
  • kitchen – there is also a breakfast club before school begins.

The unit is staffed by:

  • a unit manager
  • deputy unit manager
  • four project workers, with extra help from school staff at lunchtimes.

The unit remains open after school for a while to accommodate those day pupils who wish to pursue extra-curricular activities.
