Floella Benjamin OBE
On 13 April this year Barnardo’s Vice President Floella Benjamin OBE will be fulfilling a pledge she made to Barnardo’s ten years ago to show her belief in children and commitment to their well being.
In a self-confessed 'moment of madness' Floella pledged to run ten London Marathons in as many years and raise thousands of pounds for Barnardo’s. As a busy writer, broadcaster and campaigner and very active Barnardo’s supporter since 1990, it hasn’t been easy to fit in the constant training for her next marathon.
'I always keep my promises no matter what it takes', says Floella.
With each stride she takes, Floella will help even more vulnerable children from across the UK. 'Last year, the crowd kept me going, and knowing that raising money for Barnardo’s would make a difference to the lives of thousands of children.'
It’s this thought that keeps Floella going on the 26.2 mile course, despite the blisters, aches and pains.
