The internship has exposed me all facets of the policy-making process – from attending Select Committee hearings and Coalition meetings, to drafting parliamentary questions and analysing public sector documents. Above all, the most positive aspect of the internship has been the way in which I have been made to feel part of the organisation and encouraged to contribute to decisions made in the campaigns I’ve been involved in. Ben, Policy, Parliamentary and Campaigns Volunteer Intern

Barnardo’s Volunteer Internship Programme has been really enjoyable. I have not only gained some valuable skills and experience to put on my CV but I’ve had good fun doing it too. What’s more, unlike many charities, they also have internship opportunities in their Regional and National offices. This has meant that I have been able to stay at home and take advantage of the free accommodation rather than renting in London. Laura, Gap Year Development Volunteer Intern

I have gained some much needed experience and I now have a more specific idea of the career path I want to follow. Having this hands-on experience means I can use the skills I developed whilst at University within a workplace environment. This means it is now much easier to demonstrate my skills clearly on my C.V. However, one of the aspects I have most enjoyed is working with the friendly and helpful people in my team as well as regularly socialising with the other Interns on nights out! Kerry Hill, Publishing and Corporate Communications Volunteer Intern

Often when you think of an internship, you think of being in an office, doing all the jobs no one else wants to do. However, throughout my time here I’ve been on a variety of Prison, Retail and Project Visits, learning how Barnardo’s functions as a whole, not just within the realms of the office. I even did some celeb spotting at the Barnardo's Carnaby Street Boutique! Caroline, Prison and YOI Development Volunteer Intern
