Student Retail Volunteer Roles

Are you thinking of a career in the fashion and retail industry and want the opportunity to experience it first-hand? Do you love bargain hunting and know how to spot a fantastic find?

Here at Barnardo's we are excited about the changing status of charity shops throughout the UK. With the improving quality of donations our shops are transforming into havens of hidden gems from vintage hand-me-downs to unwanted couture. This era of revitalisation relies on innovation, originality and forward thinking and with that in mind we've created great retail volunteer roles to get more students working in our stores.

We need you to bring a fresh, different and exciting approach to charity retail and to help the stores to realise their huge potential. We also think you would be great spokespeople to tell your friends and other students that charity shops are the way forward - and we can guarantee a student loan will stretch a lot further at Barnardo's stores!!

It is very easy to get started volunteering with a Barnardo's store.

1. At a convenient time, please pop into your local Barnardo's store or give them a call to speak to the manager about the opportunities available at the store. If you are  not sure where your nearest store is, please visit  and enter your postcode into the store finder. If you click on a shop icon after searching, you will be able to view the shop address and the phone number.

2. At the store you will have the opportunity to find out more about the role, the type of tasks you will be doing and meet members of the store team whilst completing the  necessary registration paper work.

3. Once the registration process is completed, the shop manager will then arrange your start date with you and invite you to the store to commence your induction. The induction  will enable you to feel confident in undertaking your volunteering role and being a part of Barnardo's.

We hope you will enjoy your time volunteering with Barnardo's Retail. If you have any further questions regarding volunteering or this process, please email us:
