Barnardo’s Volunteer Internship Scheme has been ‘Highly Commended’ in the category of Best Work Experience Provider ‘New Placement Schemes’ at the National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) Awards 2008.

We offer a variety of volunteer internship placements, which have included the following areas
- Fundraising Marketing
- Volunteer Development
- IS
- Policy, Parliamentary and Campaigns
- Brand and New Media
Barnardo's volunteer internships provide interns with the following
- an insight into working in the charity sector
- a chance a make a real difference to the charity
- a hands on experience
- workplace skills
- an opportunity to develop both personally and professionally
In addition, Barnardo's offers volunteer interns the following
- travel expenses to and from Barnardo's and up to £4 for lunch
- CV/application writing and interview skills training
- access to the Barnardo’s internal vacancy list
- supervision and support throughout the volunteer internship
- reference on completion of the volunteer internship
Whether you have just graduated, finished your A Levels and are looking for voluntary experience in your gap year or you are looking for a change of career paths we welcome your application.
To apply you must meet the following criteria
- be 18 years old or over
- be available for three months
- have achieved A-levels or equivalent
- be IT literate
- be committed to Barnardo’s vision, basis and values
Please note, the majority of volunteer internships are full-time but we can be flexible if you have other commitments. In addition to the full-time roles we do offer a number of part time volunteer internships; please check the role vacancy for details.
As well as volunteer internships based at our Head Office in Barkingside, Greater London, we have a number of opportunities based in our Regional and National offices and Children's Services across the UK.
