1. Why your data matters to us

Every year over 240,000 vulnerable children rely on the support of people like you. We will use your details to tell you their story and the ways you could help in the future.

Supporters like you rightly expect transparency around how we manage your information and want to have a choice about how that information is shared.

We take the safety of your details very seriously and are committed to maintaining your trust by protecting the personal information we hold about you.  

We have rigorous systems and processes in place to carefully look after any data of yours that we collect. The data we gather and hold is managed in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998).

If at any time you want to change the way we communicate with you please call our supporter care team on 0800 008 7005 or email supportercare@barnardos.org.uk.

2. My bank details have changed. Can I update them online?

Unfortunately not. We do not have the facility for you to change your bank details on our website.  If you would like to notify us of any changes to your bank details please phone us on 0800 008 7005.

3. Can I change the amount of my regular gift online?

If your gift is payable by direct debit, please email supportercare@barnardos.org.uk with your name, address (including the postcode) and your supporter reference number if you have it to hand. Please let us know the new amount you would like to give and the date on which you would like us to start collecting your donation. We will then send you a letter to confirm this change.

4. How do I notify you of a change of address?

Please email supportercare@barnardos.org.uk with your name, your old address, your new address (including the postcodes) and your supporter reference number if you have it to hand.

5. How can I change the way you communicate with me?

If you would like to update or change the way we communicate with you, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly Supporter Care team on 0800 008 7005 or email supportercare@barnardos.org.uk.

6. Is my personal information safe with Barnardo’s ?

Yes. We strictly abide by fundraising and data protection legislation and we follow best practice and we promise:

  • We only hold information that is necessary for communicating with you.
  • We will never telephone, email or send you mail unless you have expressed an interest in the work of Barnardo’s.
  • We do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
  • If you do not want us to communicate with you or want to change the way we do, we always respect your decision, you just need to tell us.
