Our Fundraising Practises

We value greatly our supporters as it is through their generosity we are able to help 240,000 children, young people and families every year in the UK.

Supporters of Barnardo’s can be assured that:

  • We are members of the Fundraising Regulator and the Institute of Fundraising.
  • We strictly abide by fundraising and data protection legislation and we follow best practice.
  • We only hold information that is necessary for communicating with you.
  • We will never telephone, email or send you mail unless you have expressed an interest in the work of Barnardo’s.
  • When we do call we will always check that you are happy to speak to us first.
  • Your details are safe – we do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
  • If you do not want us to communicate with you or want to change the way we do, we always respect your decision, you just need to tell us.
  • We are especially sensitive and careful when we speak to elderly or potentially vulnerable supporters and when discussing more sensitive areas of our work. Our policies and those of the agencies working on our behalf reflect this.
  • We treat your donations with the utmost care – 92p of every £1 we spend goes directly towards helping children, young people and families in the UK.
