Sex and relationship education matters for all children Thank you for supporting our sex and relationship education (SRE) campaign.

This campaign has now closed.

In April 2017, the Children and Social Work Bill received its final approval and was given royal assent. This came after MPs debated this issue and passed through the amendment relating to compulsory SRE. This means that relationships and sex education for all children is now officially law. This is a historic moment and will make a huge difference in our fight to prevent child abuse and exploitation. It’s a vital step forward in keeping children safe.

It is expected that these changes will take effect from 2019. This means that in two years all children in England will receive relationships education in primary school and relationships and sex education in secondary school.

We will be working hard to make sure that these changes are as effective as possible.

Thank you again to everyone who took action and supported this campaign.
