Cut them free campaign successes

Cut her free from sexual exploitation

In response to our campaign – and thanks to the support of Barnardo’s campaigners – we’ve had great success in our campaign to tackle sexual exploitation.

  • The Government announced that Children’s Minister Tim Loughton would be responsible for protecting children from sexual exploitation.  Mr Loughton wrote to Barnardo’s expressing his support for the campaign: he wrote:

My department has received a large number of emails in support of your campaign... The coalition Government welcomes the action taken by Barnardo’s to highlight this extremely important issue."

  • The Government has published a National Action Plan (23 November 2011) setting out what the Government and councils need to do to protect children from young people.  This will make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children.  You can read the National Action Plan here:

We still need to keep campaigning…

Thanks to the efforts of Barnardo’s campaigners, many councils have signed up to support the campaign and have committed to implementing Barnardo’s recommendations, but still the majority of councils haven’t.  Has yours?  Take action now to email your council and ask them to commit to tackling sexual exploitation

Join the campaign to keep the pressure on to deliver real change.
