In their own words

Philip and David are two brothers. They were placed together when they were aged nine and ten in 1993. Prior to placement they had experienced a very difficult and abusive home life.
Philip himself says...
"I think that being with the same family on a permanent placement or being adopted is a lot better for children who have had a rough start in life, because it helps them settle down easier than if they are shifted around from family to family. Feeling that you can be trusted and loved also helps to settle you down. Sometimes I wonder what life would have been like at each of the families I stayed with, although I am happy where I am, and I think about my birth parents from time to time. I often get praise for doing the things I’ve done and achieving the things I’ve achieved. I put it down to dreams. I have always wanted to go to University and I am going this October. Everything after I moved here has happened almost the way I wanted it to happen."
One couple who have fostered for 25 years...
"Maybe we have not had a married life like other couples of our age but we have found it very rewarding and satisfying that we have tried to help put these children on the right path of life. We enjoyed having these children in our home and have many a fond memory of them over the years."
