What we do

Services offered

  • Assessment and Individual Family Support for families
  • Assessment of families’ needs and difficulties as part of an overall assessment coordinated by Social Work
  • Information and advice on stages of child development
  • Ideas and strategies in dealing with difficult and challenging behaviour
  • Practical advice on routines, mealtimes; bed times
  • Direct work with parents increasing their knowledge and skills of parenting
  • Direct work with children and young people on a range of issues affecting them at home, school or in the community, for example: offending behaviour, drug and alcohol misuse
  • Advice on play and parent / child interaction, using different methods
  • Helping with leisure time; outings for families, access to local resources

Individual support for children and young people (aged 8-12 years)

Where appropriate, in conjunction with work with parents, we also work directly with children on issues affecting them, such as;

  • Coping with change
  • Strategies to aid behaviour in school, at home,
  • Self esteem issues
  • Social interactions
  • Encouraging interest in activities outside the home, e.g sports, hobbies

Group support for parents

  • Parent led groups which meet weekly in local communities across Fife
  • Groups meet in local community venues which are accessible
  • A crèche is provided by the project
  • Groups focus on a range of issues such as knowledge of child development and behaviour management, parenting skills and confidence

Group support for young people (8-12 years)

Issue based groups for 8-12 year olds which focus on issues such as

  • Relationships
  • Peer group pressure
  • Anger management
  • Anti-social behaviour
  • School problems
  • Self-esteem and confidence

General Information

  • Fully equipped flat on our premises which families can use alongside project staff
  • Resource material on different aspects of parenting; health issues; behaviour management; impact of substances, group work
  • Newsletter is distributed to families; local forums; professionals; schools
  • We have also arranged summer activity programmes for families working with the project

Referrals to the project are considered by a multi-agency group who meet on a 6 weekly basis. To make a referral, the following steps apply:
