In their words

At Family Matters we regularly discuss and consult with families who have received a service from us or are currently working with the project.  Here are some comments and views on our services.

Intensive Family Support

I have a better relationship with the children because I have changed my reactions to the things they do. I used to shout a lot but now I try harder to listen and talk to the children. Parent

My sons anger and friendships at school are better.  Mine and his friendship has got a lot better too. Parent

My son enjoys school much better and is going. I am much more confident being a Mum and the way I deal with the kids. Parent

Attendance has improved and separation anxiety is not an issue any more. Teacher

The couple are pulling together. Their daughter’s behaviour is better as Mum and Dad are more confident and able to deal with her temper tantrums which occur less frequently. Health Visitor

Mum and Dad have actively sought our support and worked hard to improve the conditions in the home. Social Worker

Assessment

Family Matters involvement with this family helped to inform decisions and plan for the way forward. Given the full assessment of the child's needs and his parents' capacity to meet them, we will recommend that the child's name be removed from the Child Protection Register. Social Worker

We talk more before problems get worse and it was helpful to have someone else looking in, pointing things out. This helped us get our child home quicker. Parent
