A donation of £10 a month allows us to keep Outreach Workers on the ground, working alongside Social Services in local communities to help children who have suffered abuse, neglect or exploitation.

Dear Reader,

Barnardo’s have helped me throughout my life. When I was young they came to my school to let us know they were there if we ever needed them. If it wasn’t for this I wouldn’t be talking to you now. £5 a month will ensure they keep doing this in local schools around the UK.

I didn’t think I would ever need their help back then, but when my mum died my dad started drinking. Life was unbearable. I didn’t know where to go so I turned up on Barnardo’s doorstep with a bag. They put me in emergency foster care, and I finally felt like someone cared about me. £10 a month will ensure that others can get rescued by Barnardo’s when they have nowhere to go.

Life was almost back on track; then 3 years ago I was raped. I was ashamed... I pushed my friends away. I wanted to escape and when older boys offered me drinks and drugs I took them. When I was high my ‘boyfriend’ got me to have sex with him and his friends. I felt completely trapped - but then Barnardo’s found me. They took me in, and gave me 1-to-1 counselling to help me see it wasn’t my fault, and start planning for the future. £15 a month will pay for 3 other girls through 1-to-1 therapy.

I’m now in my second year studying English and hope to become a teacher. I can honestly say I wouldn’t have made it without Barnardo’s help. Thank you for reading and please donate to this life changing charity,
