A family living in poverty will struggle to buy clothes, pay utility bills and accommodation costs. Here in the UK:
- One third of British children are forced to go without at least one of the things they need, such as three meals a day or adequate clothing
- 1.6 million children live in overcrowded housing
As a consequence, many children living in poverty have far fewer opportunities in life than other children and the effects of poverty will stay with them into adulthood.

This site uses a secure server for the direct debit application process. All information that you provide on this form will be encrypted during transit over the Internet to prevent unauthorised interception.
For single credit/debit card donations we use Protx. All transaction information passed between merchant sites and the Protx VSP Systems is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates.
Encryption and Data Storage
Once on Protx systems, all sensitive data is secured using the same internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards used by, among others, the US Government. The encryption keys are held on state-of-the-art, tamper proof systems in the same family as those used to secure VeriSign's Global Root certificate, making them all but impossible to extract.
