Barnardo's Cymru Adoption and Fostering Service

Welcome to Barnardo's Cymru Adoption and Fostering Service. Our service specialises in the recruitment of families who are able to care for children on a permanent/long term or short term basis.

Barnardo's Cymru Adoption and Fostering Service is an All Wales service and has two offices - one in North Wales (Mold) and one in South Wales (Cardiff) so we are able to cover all of Wales. We recruit, assess and train carers so they develop the skill and confidence to care for a child. We then work closely with local authorities to match and place a child or children with the carer.

Our services have been running for over 25 years and we have developed a healthy reputation for finding carers for children who are considered more difficult to place. We offer substantial training and support to carers, both before, during and after placement, and we have an extremely low number of placement breakdowns.

We welcome applications from people from a wide range of backgrounds. We believe that Barnardo's Cymru Adoption and Fostering Service continues to be influenced by Dr Barnardo's views that every child deserves the best possible start in life.

In addition to this, both offices hold information events on a regular basis where you can visit our service and speak to one of our experienced social workers. You will be given one-on-one time with a Barnardo's worker and have the chance to watch a video about other people's experience of the approval process.
