Believing in children in Yorkshire

Barnardo's Yorkshire is one of the six Barnardo’s regions across England which runs projects for children and young people in the local area. We work with over 13,700 children and young people across Yorkshire addressing the widely differing needs we meet on a daily basis. From problems such as abuse, homelessness and poverty to tackling the challenges of disability. Services will change but our aim will remain the same to continue to make a real difference to the most disadvantages children in Yorkshire.
Barnardo’s Yorkshire works directly in partnership with children and young people to create and develop services relevant to their needs. Listening to children to define what they need is what drives us forward.
Barnardo’s work in Yorkshire is genuinely innovative. Several creative initiatives have become templates for services being developed throughout the UK. Ground-breaking work with children abused through prostitution and community development linking churches and neighbourhood action all have their roots here. New education services for school-age mums and schemes tracking young people reported missing from home have had a similar impact.
Children only get one chance of a happy and secure childhood. Barnardo’s believes it is never too early or too late to help children have the chance of a better childhood and a future as happy and fulfilled adults. We believe in the abused, the vulnerable, the forgotten and the neglected. We will support them, stand up for them and bring out the best in each and every child.
Barnardo’s Yorkshire needs £14 million a year to keep our range of projects running, that is £1.2 million a month or £268,000 a week. You can help Yorkshire’s most vulnerable children by helping us to fundraise so we can work with more children and young people in the region? Or perhaps you could volunteer some of your time in a project or your local shop? We believe in children - do you?
