Billy Boyd Visits Young People in Dundee

Scottish actor and musician, Billy Boyd, took a few hours out of his busy schedule to meet and talk to staff, volunteers, families and young people with disabilities at Barnardo’s Dundee Family Support Team in Dundee on Wednesday 15 September.
After a tour of the service Billy watched the premier screening of a dvd made by four young people at the service, a project they started late in 2009. The group were very excited to meet Billy and listen to his feedback about their dvd, which he thought was “very good indeed”.
Dundee Family Support Team (DFST) celebrated its 25th Anniversary this month. The service has been helping families in Dundee with children and young people with disabilities continually for the last quarter of a century.
Billy presented anniversary medals and certificates to young people. He signed copies of books and posters and was happy to take part in a question and answer session about his current role in Sunshine on Leith and filming the Lord of The Rings trilogy.
Dave Anderson, Children’s Services Manager at DFST said
“The young people really enjoyed his visit, meeting a big screen star and having him watch a film they had made was very exciting for them and everyone involved in the project. We really appreciate the time he took out of his schedule to come along and meet us, everyone was delighted with the evening”.
