About children needing fostering
All families have their ups and downs and at times may need the support of their local authority/trust.
A decision may be made that a placement with a foster family will help the child and family to move forward together.
Barnardo’s works closely with local authorities/trusts across the UK to provide a variety of foster carers to meet the children and young people’s needs.
Children who need fostering may have experienced abuse
These children may have experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse or exploitation. Many have low self-esteem or challenging behaviour.

Disabled children and those with a learning difficulty also need placements.
