Contact Activity Orders (C.A.O)
Contact Activity Orders are referred by the Children and Family Court when there have been difficulties regarding the child/ren when parents have separated or divorced.
These order/s are delivered by trained Barnardo’s staff and can be delivered in either a group setting or on a 1:1 basis. They may comprise of either a one hour information session or a four hour course split over two sessions.
The one hour session will give information on mediation, how parents can best help their child/ren, available contact centres and information on support and advice services.
The 4 hour course will look at some of the aspects of parental separation including:
- the separation journey
- children’s voices
- having difficult conversations with the child/ren
- the emotional aspects of separation
- support networks
- looking at the future
- and how to move forward.
