Margaret receives Highly Commended Award

Margaret Chapman, one of Compass’ amazing volunteers, recently received a highly commended award from the Marsh Trust for all her hard work.

Margaret runs cooking sessions with our service users to help them gain an understanding of how to take a small budget and create something appetising and nutritious.  Margaret has worked with service users with all levels of cooking skills and has assisted the creation of everything from soup to profiteroles.

Compass Christmas Party

Tuesday 20th December 2011, 12.30pm - 3.00pm

Compass holds it's annual Christmas party for Service Users and their children on Tuesday 20th December. For the children there will be a visit from Santa as well as party games and arts and crafts. Nintendo Wii and pool table will be available for young people and refreshments will be provided, we hope to see you there!

Filming Project with Glyndwr University - July 2011

On the 6^th and 7^th July, Volunteers from Barnardo's Compass Partnership joined Students and Lecturers from Glyndwr University to create four short film pieces.

These clips were of four actors playing out mock interview scenarios which will be used during a Barnardo's training course for Service Users. Each piece of film shows the different way a real life interview could take place.

Both the Creative Lens Media Department (who provided the filming and editing) and the Theatre Studies Department (who provided the Actors and costumes) were involved with this project and we are extremely grateful to everyone for giving up their time and doing such a professional job.

Young Parents Group visit the Welsh Mountain Zoo - 12th April 2011

Early this year, Barnardo's Compass Partnership was awarded £485.00 from the ‘Youth Led Grants Panel’.

This money enabled our Young Parent’s Group (Jungle Tots) to visit the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay; this was something we’d been hoping to do for some time. Staff, young people and their children all thoroughly enjoyed the day out!

We would like to say a big thank you to our dedicated Volunteers who prepared and submitted the funding application which made this day out possible.

Launch of New Relationships in Recession Project - Tuesday 5 April 2011, 12 Noon - 2pm

Barnardo's Compass Partnership would like to invite you to the launch of our new 'Relationships in Recession Project'. This is an exciting project which aims to help young women who are, or maybe under financial pressure and are facing difficult and/or abusive relationships.

Young people and professionals from the Wrexham area welcome, a light buffet lunch will be provided.

Compass Christmas Party - Tuesday 21st December 2010, 12pm - 3pm

Compass will be holding its annual Christmas party on Tuesday 21st December. All young people who access the Service and their children are welcome to attend. We have a number of activities planned for children including arts and crafts, face painting and games, as well as Santa’s Grotto! (Children can see Santa 1pm - 2.30pm). The Nintendo Wii will be available to young people and food and refreshments will be provided for all.

You are welcome from 12pm onwards, even if you just want a brew and mince pie – please feel free to drop in.

Ladies Night - 20th November 2010

Barnardo's 'Friends of Compass Group' are holding their first fundraising event. A ladies night will take place on Saturday 20th November at Brymbo Cricket Club, 7pm until late. Live band, disco, tarot card readings, chocolate stall, retail stall, body shop and much more.

Compass Re-Launches Young Parents Group

Young Parents Group will be starting again from Tuesday 14th September 2010. If you have pre school age children and would be interested in attending please come along every Tuesday between 1pm and 3pm for fun activities, story time and snacks.

Barnardo's North Wales Regional Office moves to Wrexham - 1st May 2010

From 1st May 2010, Barnardo’s North Wales office function and staff re-located from Colwyn Bay to the Compass Partnership in Wrexham. This does not affect the services provided at Compass and means that any enquiries previously made via the office at Colwyn Bay will be re-directed to the Compass Partnership.

Bag Packing at Sainsbury's Wrexham - 3rd April 2010
