Tez's Story

My name is Tez and I am 21 years old.

Before I came to Barnardo’s I used to get into a lot of trouble, especially with the police.

I was unhappy before Barnardo’s – sometimes I was happy but I think that that was because of my drug and alcohol problems.

Since coming to Barnardos I have learnt to be more assertive and ask for what I want and need.

I have been able to attend work placements working with tree surgery and on the vans.

Working with Barnardo’s Project Workers has significantly helped me reduce my drinking and drug taking.

I am also going to college in September which I am really looking forward to.

The Options Project has greatly improved my life and is helping me make positive decisions."

Tez has been working with Options since September 2010. In that time he has completed a work placement, has volunteered with Barnardo’s and has now been accepted to start a college course in Horticulture in September 2011.
