Sian's Story
My name is Sian, I am 22 years old and I live in Wrexham.
Well, where do I start? Before Options I was getting into trouble, drinking and doing silly things. Now I’m changing for the best for me and my daughter.
I’ve enjoyed coming to Compass but at first I didn’t think I would get on here but I have, coming to Compass has got me going out, meeting new people and having a laugh.
In Options I’ve learnt a lot going to it because I’ve made mates and I’ve found out a lot of things that I didn’t know. We went to Royal Mail in Chester for the day which was very interesting I thought. We went to Deeside Ice Rink which was ok I guess because I was feeling ill. I gave it a go and I was the first person to fall over!
I went rock climbing with two members of Compass staff which I enjoyed because it’s hard but had a laugh. Me and a young person called Calum went to Alyn Waters for orienteering which went OK but I didn’t enjoy it because walking does my head in.
We also did CVs and job interviews which were OK because I’ve learnt a lot. Plus I’ve also done cooking and the best thing was I cooked my daughters 4 year birthday cake, which she loved.
Now I have started college on a Tuesday doing Maths and English which I continue with in September – I can’t wait! I also work unpaid at Nightingale Hospice sorting out clothes which I love going to because I know I’m helping to make money for ill people and it’s got me out of the flat.
I’ve made loads of mates and I’m an outgoing person now. I feel good inside now, before I didn’t go out much or see people but now my life has turned around because of Compass. Thank you so much - Sian
Sian joined the Options Project in February 2011. She also completed our group programme and is currently volunteering with Nightingale Hospice as well as studying Basic Skills at Yale College.
