Connecting Communities
Connecting Communities is the new umbrella name for Barnardo's services in Derby City. Our work is based from two community sites, both in disadvantaged neighbourhoods where families face issues of poverty and social exclusion on a daily basis.
The Community House

The Community House Project is a community based project working with families and children using community development principles.
What we do
- Encourage men to take a full and active role in being a father through Dads R Us.
- Recruit, train and support volunteers across the whole Surestart/Children's Centre in a variety of roles - from play and befriending, to helping in the Community Cafe.
- We assist the Community Toy Chest toy library at First Steps to loan toys and encourage play.
- We support the Community Forum to organise trips and activities for families.
- We facilitate PATCH (Play At The Community House) to provide inclusive play opportunities for children around the area.
- We offer training and support to women affected by domestic Violence.
