Case Study - Giving children a new lease of life

Lighthouse is a specialist service for children and young people in Edinburgh and West Lothian who have, or who are alleged to have, engaged in sexually harmful or concerning behaviour. The project begins with a skills based assessment, identifying a young person's unique needs. Once assessed, we work with the young person and other professionals to create a programme best suited to them. We build upon a young person’s strengths while also directly addressing their harmful behaviours.

You hear about people who get beaten up and all that after being charged.  You probably think – like I did after my offence – that your life has ended.  But now I’ve got a new life and I like this one a lot better.  I’ve got new friends and things to do. I can walk around town without feeling scared. Things have worked out really positively. I’ve moved on from my offence. Lighthouse has helped me with that.
