Commission Children's Services: Wales
Barnardo's Cymru has been working with the most disadvantaged children, young people, families and communities in Wales for more than 100 years.
In 2009-10 Barnardo’s Cymru helped more than 7,600 children, young people and families within 20 of the 22 local authorities in Wales.
Today we run 112 services across the country to help vulnerable children and young people, including those who are struggling to overcome the disadvantages caused by poverty, abuse and discrimination. We try to ensure that every young person can realise their full potential, whatever their circumstances.
Our services include Taith Service where we work with seven local authorities, South Wales Police and the Hillside Secure Unit to help children and young people with problematic sexual behavior.
We have also recently established a new project across Wales called Seraf Service to help sexually exploited children and young people or those who are in danger of such exploitation.
