How we can help
Our advocates can offer:
- independent advocacy
- exit interviews to get the views of children and young people who have changed placement
- visits to children and young people just coming into care to let them know about our services
- participation group work
- practice teaching.
Our volunteers support children and young people by becoming:
- independent visitors
- befrienders
- peer mentors
- helpers, assisting with group participation work and events.
Our participation team offers:
- participation events for all children and young people throughout the Wakefield district
- we train young people to facilitate and deliver training to external organisations/groups
- children’s grants for community groups
- annual mayor’s award ceremony celebrating achievements of children and young people
- young people's accreditation scheme
- we support and offer training to other organisations/agencies on young people's participation
- independent consultancy on participation matters.
