Me today I’ve just been decorating my house because it wasn’t very nice when I moved in but it’s getting there now and it’s looking really nice. I like taking my new dog out too.27 Oct 2013 - 0:01am
After Barnardo’s helped me When I was 16 I first came into contact with Barnardo’s. Straight away they got me a flat, gave me a grant for furniture, they were just there whenever you needed to talk to somebody.25 Oct 2013 - 11:50am
How it felt to leave care It was a lot of responsibility leaving care at 16, going from not having to do anything to buying your own things and paying your own bills. It was a big responsibility. 24 Oct 2013 - 11:51am
Meeting my Barnardo's project worker Richard The most difficult challenges were finding somewhere to live, and someone I could trust. I wasn't sure if I could trust Richard at first but I don't think I'd be here today if it wasn't for Barnardo's. 22 Oct 2013 - 5:27pm
In and out of foster care I liked going home at first, but as always my mum went back on drugs and her and her new boyfriend started to hit me all the time. 17 Oct 2013 - 5:29pm
My life in foster care Then I stayed with the same foster family and they were really nice. Well because I’d never been treated properly I just liked being there. At first I didn’t like being away from home but when I realised they wanted the best for me, that’s when I found it alright.15 Oct 2013 - 7:04pm
My life before care We always used to get left on our own, we didn’t have any food in the cupboards or any electric sometimes.13 Oct 2013 - 10:33pm
Hey, I’m Billie!
I'm a care leaver who was lucky enough to get support from Barnardo's. This is my story, in my words, talking about what my life was like before I went into care, some of the hardest things I've had to deal with and what my life's like now.
