What we do

In a typical year CANDL works with between 30 and 50 local church-originated groups. Our remit is to work with churches developing community initiatives that benefit children, young people and families primarily in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Tower Hamlets. We also work specifically with Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Churches in other parts of east London and in Southwark, Lambeth, and Lewisham.

We are committed to developing existing and new partnerships, prioritising issues around child protection and children's rights, and providing services which are responsive to clients' expressed need.

If you are not within our catchment area, or do not fit our remit in some other way, you may still be able to benefit from some of the links, information items or downloadable resources available through this website.

If your church group is within our catchment area and is running or starting-up a community initiative that benefits children, young people or families, or is thinking about doing so, we may be able to help. Our trained and experienced staff can offer:
