How can we help you?
CANDL works alongside churches and church organisations by providing information, advice, and hands-on consultancy and training. We won't do the work for you but will work with you in setting up and running community initiatives, which benefit children, young people and families.
Our services:
Consultancy
CANDL can help you develop your idea/scheme/project by helping you draft a statement of aims and objectives, find ways to move towards making your idea a reality, find out any relevant legal requirements, get 'good practice' guidance, develop appropriate management mechanisms, or prepare reports.
Help with finding funding
CANDL can help you draw up a budget, devise a fundraising/resourcing strategy, identify possible sources of funding and help you to fill out application forms. CANDL can also advise you on presenting your project as worth funding to potential donors.
Research and local surveys
CANDL can help you carry out an audit of resources you already have, find out what other agencies are working in your area and find out what local people really need.
Recruiting and supporting volunteers
CANDL can help you clarify your volunteers' needs, what you will expect them to do and what you are offering them in return for their time and energy. We could also help you put together a volunteering policy and volunteer agreement and assist you in recruiting and supporting your volunteers.
Training workshops
CANDL can help you identify what training you, your group, workers (paid and voluntary) need and the skills knowledge and experience that already exist. We can provide information about other training agencies, events and courses or even how to run your own training session. We can also provide workers who can run the training sessions for you, or you can join one already running.
Team building
CANDL can help you look at the roles and responsibilities within your team and can advise on how to build positive trustful working relationships. We can be a 'sounding board' for your organisation, listening and reflecting back what we see and hear. We can identify where actual and potential conflicts lie and help you deal with them in a constructive way.
Evaluation
CANDL can help your church evaluate your project and be clear about what you are intending to do. We can help monitor what you actually do and find out what is working and what isn't.
Family Life/Parenting Support
CANDL has a specialist post funded by the Big Lottery Fund to develop and run parenting support and education programmes alongside local churches. If your church is interested in working with us to host such a programme, please get in touch.
