"Would just like to say thank the whole team for an amazing event. Hard work, but a really great day!" (Ben 2011)

1. Fantastic location

The Cairngorms National Park is an area of staggering natural beauty. It includes:

2. Rare opportunity to take on the Cairngorms

CGC

To protect the precious and sensitive environment of the Cairngorms, events of this size are extremely rare. The Cairngorm Challenge is the best opportunity to hike and bike through this area, explore the park and go on a real adventure.

3. Great team challenge

Most charity challenges are aimed at individuals. Here, you can take on the Cairngorm Challenge as a team. This helps you motivate each other, encouraging other members to keep going when the terrain gets tough.

The Cairngorm Challenge is also a great way to develop team building and team bonding. It also makes an interesting alternative weekend for you and your family or friends.

If you are a company, the Cairngorm Challenge is an easy and effective way to:

Team
  • Promote a healthy workforce
  • Boost staff morale and increase job satisfaction
  • Promote teamwork among employees
  • Help your company meet important CSR objectives
  • Provide opportunities for PR and promotion of your business

4. Challenges for people of all abilities

If this is your first time hiking and biking or trying a duathlon, or whether you are relishing a tougher task, the Cairngorm Challenge has routes for all abilities.

Running

Bronze (15km hike, 35km bike): A testing rise and climb through the Cairngorm ski area, before a gentle climb to the spectacular summit. After your descent, cycle through the lush forestry, taking in the stunning scenery around Loch Morlich.

Silver (20km, 55km bike): Make your way up Cairngorm and around the picturesque Loch. Then go off-road, cycling through the beautiful forests, including the breathtaking Abernethy Nature Reserve.

Gold (25km, 75km bike): The ultimate test for fitter participants. Push yourself physically by cycling around the gruelling Rothiemurchus forestry. There are several breathtaking views to go along with the breath-taking terrain.

5. Transform the lives of vulnerable children

Use this incredible achievement to raise money for some of Scotland and the UK's most vulnerable children. You can help young people like Heather .

At 16, she left care and, with no support from a loving family, had nowhere to turn. People like you helped raise the money that enabled Heather to move into Barnardo's supported accommodation.

"I was able to move in gradually - it takes time to learn how to live on your own, managing money, cooking and shopping.

The best thing was the support from Barnardo's staff who care about you. You knew they cared and were there night and day if you wanted them"

We ask all people taking part in Cairngorm Challenge to raise at least £400 to give a springboard to children and young people like Heather.
