In their words

A Bradford young carer:

"Finding out about....

This is a poem about how I feel,
Cos sometimes I feel
I will never heal,
I know people care,
But I don't think it's fair
It's because of my past
And I know it will last.
People gather
And ask what's wrong,
But they don't understand
What's really going on,
I wish one day
I'll see the sun shine
And wake up in the morning
For things to be fine,
Sometimes when I feel alone,
I wish I could have a tiny little moan."

Young carer at self esteem group reunion:

"I did not use to be talkative, the self-esteem group helped me to build my self-confidence up to talk to others. It has made me realise that I don't care what people think about me. Other people have also noticed I've come out of my shell. I also don't fight with others - I talk the problems out."

Parent of young carer:

"There has been a big change in (name) because of the self-esteem group, he is far more outgoing."
