Barnardo's Bradford Young Carers Service

Barnardo's Bradford Young Carers Service is a partnership between Barnardo's, Social Services Department, Bradford Primary Care Trusts and Bradford Children's Fund. The service was established in 1994 and has continued to address the needs of young carers through effective partnerships with a range of agencies.

Bradford Young Carers Service works with children and young people aged 5-18 years.

A young carer is someone who has a significant responsibility for caring for a family member.

The person being cared for may have:

  • mental health difficulties
  • a physical, sensory or learning impairment
  • a long term illness
  • difficulties related to substance misuse.
