Where your money goes

The money raised by children taking part in the Barnardo’s Big Toddle goes directly to our work with vulnerable under 5s in the UK.

One of the vulnerable under 5s who has been helped thanks to money raised is Jack*.

Jack came to our Heshima project when he was 3. His mother had escaped from an abusive relationship with her partner, but Jack had clearly already been affected by it. Jack was very quiet and clingy.

Our specialist project staff spent 9 months working closely with Jack, his mother and his older brother and sister. Now Jack and his brother and sister are doing well at school, while his mother has grown in confidence and has just completed an Open University course.

Heshima Family Support Centre

Barnardo’s Heshima project in South London has been receiving Big Toddle funding for a number of years to help support its work with local toddlers and their families. The centre offers therapy work and day care support for ‘at risk’ children.

The project also offers a range of services for the local community that include a baby clinic and sessions for new parents, support for families of children with disabilities and ‘stay and play’ sessions for toddlers.

Heshima is just one of our 120 projects across the UK working directly with under 5s that receive Big Toddle funds.
