Bernie character

Lloyds TSB staff voted in record numbers to make Barnardo’s their chosen charity of the year for 2007/08.

One Lloyds TSB employee, doing his best to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people, is Business Development Manager Bernie Hollywood.

At 5am on 22 March 2008 Bernie took his first steps on the Lloyds TSB ‘For the Journey’ challenge.

He ran 926.2 miles, from John O’Groats to Land's End, in just 22 days, crowning this epic journey by running the 2008 Flora London Marathon on Sunday 13 April with the 13 runners of the Lloyds TSB London Marathon team.

Congratulations Bernie!

Bernie completed his journey and overcame some real obstacles on the way. First he contended with snow and high winds over the Easter weekend in Scotland, then he was bitten on the bottom by a dog and collected an interesting assortment of blisters on his feet too! All of this and Bernie still didn't treat himself to plush hotels along the way- he spent most nights camped out in his van. Bernie was joined along the route by many supporters and well-wishers who turned out to cheer him on.

You can read the full story of Bernie's Journey on his daily blog.
