YouTurn

The BabyFather Initiative has recently begun working in Lambeth with young men (approx 14- 21 years old) who are at risk of, or are experiencing harm due to association with group offending. Young men will be referred to the project from Lambeth’s ‘Young and Safe Program’.
Over a 10 week period the ‘YouTurn’ project aims to:
- Promote awareness of young men's roles and responsibilities in relationships including addressing issues of:
Masculinity
Gender equality
Sexual consent and sexual violence
Sexual orientation
Gang culture
Positive healthy relationships
The reduction of HIV and other STI transmission.
- Promote young men's awareness of the importance of looking after their own health and well being. This will also cover sources of help, including the importance of GP registration and accessing health services.
- Increasing improvement in knowledge, life skills and motivation of young men, including their awareness of their own emotional health and well being and how it may impact on others.
- Addressing issues to do with domestic and sexual violence including the legal and other issues around informed consent.
This aims will be achieved by various forms of supportive strands including: one to one support, diversionary activities and workshops.
