BabyFather Workshop

The BabyFather Initiative has now launched its new Training and Consultancy Service. It is the culmination of a series of discussions we have held throughout the UK with fathers and social care practitioners.

"I am more thoughtful about being a role model for my child"

The BabyFather Initiative's Training and Consultancy Service is the culmination of a series of consultations and discussions that the BabyFather Initiative held with fathers and social care practitioners throughout the UK. It is designed to offer an opportunity for fathers to reflect on their role and develop key parenting skills, in a supportive enviroment, and for those working with fathers to develop the skills to successful engage with them.

Fatherhood Parenting Programme for Men, Fathers and Male Carers

More and more research is pointing to the importance of fathers in the lives of their children as a positive resource.

Research shows that children raised without their father’s involvement or a presence a strong male figure are more likely to live in poverty and deprivation, have difficulty developing in school, are at a higher risk of developing health problems(physical and emotional) and are more likely to offend when they become older. However when a father or male figure is present children are likely to be happier, healthier and more successful.

The Fatherhood Parenting Programme is a challenging and positive programme, designed to compliment existing requirements for children, young people and families.

Over 10 weeks, this tailored made, accredited programme is delivered through various modules which can be selected to suit the particular needs of fathers and services.

Accredited by ASDAN (Award Scheme Development Accreditation Network) the Fatherhood programme will allow fathers to:

  • Reflect on and evaluate their role and importance as fathers
  • Demonstrate increased confidence to parent
  • Understand the various stages of children development.

The only one of its kind in the UK, The Fatherhood Programme is also designed to meet the cultural sensitivities of BME men, fathers and male carers.
