Frequently asked questions

Q. How do I become involved with the service?
A. Barnardo’s Amazon Dudley service accepts both self referrals and agency referrals. If you’d like to find out more about referrals, please contact us.
Q. What happens after a referral has been made?
A. Following the referral, an informal meeting is held to find out if counselling would be appropriate. If you and your counsellor decide it is, then appointments will be made for regular sessions.
Q. Do you accept girls and boys?
A. Yes, the service is open to both.
Q. Will I feel at ease?
A. Yes, we try and make this experience as easy as possible for you. The service has professionally qualified and experienced staff who are from a range of ethnic backgrounds. They will try to understand your experience and listen to what you have to say.
Q. Is the service confidential?
A. Everything you talk about to your counsellor will be respected and in most cases kept private. There are however some things that we cannot keep confidential. These include if you or someone you know is being harmed or is at risk, or if there is an emergency. Your counsellor will explain this to you.
