What we do

The centre offers the following services:
Full time day-care for children aged 2 – 5 years old.
The children attend for 10 sessions each week from 9.15 – 5pm each day, although non-working parents are offered nine sessions with omission of Monday mornings. There are 23 priority placements made through Lewisham Early Years after initial referral from a health visitor or social worker. All referrals need to meet the criteria of ‘being in need’ as defined by the Children Act 1989.
Sure Start placements are offered to parent/carers who live within Evelyn ward in specific postcodes. In order to qualify for a placement parent/carers must be in employment, attending college, or actively seeking work.
Parents & Toddler group; Wednesday mornings from 9.30 -11.30a.m. Parent/carers attend with their young children and this gives them the opportunity to meet other parent/carers and share news and information, develop skills and learn more about their children’s developmental needs.
Parent / Carers training sessions e.g. ESOL, (English for speakers of other languages), High/Scope Caring Start, High/Scope Growing Together, and Speakeasy. The high/scope sessions are designed to further enhance parent/carers skills and knowledge as their children’s first educators and offer them support in continuing to do so. The Speakeasy course enables parent/carers to develop ways of discussing their children’s sexuality with them in a way that promotes their children’s ability to examine the issues involved and to make informed choices about sexual matters that concern them as they mature.
Our Vietnamese parent/carers are supported by our Vietnamese family support worker who provides advice on various issues for example housing and benefits. She also provides a translation service during progress report meetings.
Our Vietnamese family support worker facilitates regular parents groups on issues identified by our service users.
